ELLIE FORTUNE
"Matriarch"
OV 08 (2009)

Ellie Fortune was, at one point, a solo act which comprised Jesse Kellen Phillips; son of Kenneth Ford Phillips III and Susan Gail Fairchild, brother of Candice Krystle Phillips, father of the music under this moniker, and husband to it's live performance. Though Phillips remains the center of it's creation, Ellie Fortune's amorphous nature constantly lends itself to a new experience.
In the late summer of 2009, Ellie Fortune began working in Sacramento with producer Andy Morin (Ganglians, Wavves) at his infamous a2b22 studio. The result is a seamless anthology of anti-folk woven together with legit blues, a collection of songs that embodies a feeling of small-town stasis while trancending the small-town burden.
